An Introduction to Not Having (More) Children
Not having children, or not having more children, is a family planning option that is often pursued when a carrier feels like other options may not be the right choice for themselves or their family. This is a very personal decision that carries psychological impacts such as feelings of regret, facing judgment from family, friends or society, and/or sadness over not having a child or more children. Speaking to a mental health counselor may be especially helpful for genetic carriers considering this option.
